Bougainvillea Spectabilis
When Tracey Williams graduated with a Fine Arts degree from the Barbados Community College, she was nominated ‘most outstanding student of her year’, yet it was only when she apprenticed herself to renowned artists Alison Chapman–Andrews and Stanley Greaves that she found her own artistic voice. Another influence came from her involvement in the family- owned plant nursery, and today Williams is mostly known for her flower paintings, such as the Indigo's ‘Orange Cattleya’ and ‘Bougainvillea Spectabilis’. Whether executed in acrylic, oil or mixed media, and whether expressed either through exuberant color or quiet mystery, Williams’ flower paintings reflect the wonder of nature and a fascination with nature's inherent eroticism.
