David Spieler is the owner-manager of Earthworks, a production pottery, which was established by his mother, the renowned artist and potter Goldie Spieler, in 1983. Aside from running Earthworks and more recently also the Flower Forest (a botanical garden in St. Joseph), Spieler has developed a production of ceramic unica. He describes his role as that of a potter, sculptor, and ‘flower-tender’, creating not to impress, but “to exist, with every vessel shaped, every sculpture built, every petal guided, is a quiet act of urgency”. Art, he says, isn't always a thing - it's a state of becoming.
