Façade 1
Since her retirement from teaching art; Ann Dodson’s life has revolved around painting and orchid-growing. Now among Barbados’ most popular artists, Dodson first made her mark on the local art scene in the 1990s with her clean, graphic line, and distinctive color- scheme through which she arrives at a distilled and stylized representation of the Barbadian landscape. From the fertile, rolling hills to the majestic palmtrees and colorful buildings that are nestled between them, Dodson thus converts the elements of the landscape into firmly delineated shapes and formal relationships between organic and geometric lines, deep and flattened perspectives, open and closed spaces, all of which is animated by 'color-events'.
