Hummingbird series 4

Shane Eastmond is among Barbados’ most watched younger artists. Born in Jamaica and raised in Barbados, he nurtured an interest in art from his early childhood. He trained at the Barbados Community College, but his artistic growth has been independent and experimental and, today, encompasses a wide range of media and stylistic directions. Eastmond’s exquitise draftmanship is perhaps most recognizable in his early black and white freehand drawings, but presently his line-work tends to be combined with ink, acrylic paint, and other materials into colorful and complex compositions, typically marked by representational figure drawing accompanied by patterns, textures, and energy lines, as noted in the Hummingbird series displayed at the hotel.
