Vanita Comissiong trained in the visual arts programme at the Barbados Community College, but her distinctive personal style evolved independently and is mainly inspired by Haitian artists’ expressive use of color. The works shown at the Indigo examplify Comissiong’s tendency to draw out rhythms, patterns and colors in every aspect of life. Comissiong has been the recipient of several medals at the National Independence Festival of Creative Arts, and her works have been used in numerous international publications to promote Barbadian tourism. Her work has moreover been exhibited in the UK, USA, France and Trinidad,
